  1. SQUATCHING: Reptar

    Reptar at Sasquatch 2012
After seeing them for the first time I’m not sure it’s possible to not have fun at a Reptar show.  It was definitely a situation of needing to live up to a pretty incredible “show energy” hype and have a really shitty timeslot to do so.  Scheduled as one of the very first bands on Saturday they were fighting the fan’s fatigue of a late night before and trying to get people motivated to move/do anything that early was rough.  It’s incredible that expectations were so high after having just released their debut album Body Faucets and even more so that they delivered.  If you get a chance to see these guys live, jump on it.

  2. SQUATCHING: Reptar

Reptar’s unique nature is immediately evident through their masterful representation of the Windows 3.1 browser system on their website http://reptarmusic.com/.   Their new album Body Faucet (released May 1) is a welcome follow up to their debut EP  Oblangle Fizz Y’all which left me just wanting more.  5 tracks just simply wasn’t enough and Body Faucet delivers.  Their live show is one of the most talked about aspects of this group so if you’re hitting Sasquatch this year this band is a must see.

  3. HEAR THIS: Reptar’s Full Album Body Faucet

Reptar’s new record Body Faucet will be out on May 1st via Vagrant Records, but you can hear the whole thing right here. These guys are a riot live–I saw them a few months ago in Los Angeles. The record is catchy as hell and it wouldn’t surprise me if “Sebastian” turns into the Summer 2012 “Pumped Up Kicks” phenomenon. Listen now while it’s still a voluntary decision and you can say, “I knew them when…”

  4. Reptar in LA

    Reptar

I loved Rugrats, so with a name like “Reptar,” you’re bound to get my attention. And it’s not just me– this Georgia-based band has been collecting quite a following since 2008. Their debut album Body Faucet was produced by Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley, Washed Out) and will be released on Vagrant Records on May 1st (review coming soon).

They’ll be playing at SXSW and supporting buzzed-about band Grouplove on tour this Spring. If you’re like me and want to catch them early, come see them at The Echo this Wednesday with Quiet Hooves and Lucius.
