  1. WATCH THIS: Other Lives – “Tamer Animals”

    September 22, 2011 by Steph

A video from one of about 10 records I’ve purchased this year. Perfect fit for this track.

  2. Marina and the Diamonds video for “Radioactive”

    August 26, 2011 by Steph

This video is for newest single “Radioactive” from Marina and the Diamond’s upcoming 2012 LP. The track, a big “club-ier” than those previously, splits the scenes between a desert, a city at night, and a hotel room. All around, it’s certainly pretty white-hot.

“Introduced to a glittering new nightlife, I fell in love with New York; it has this magic, fizzing white energy that no other city in the world has,” she said of that “Radioactive” day. “I felt happy and was inspired to write a song that felt light and euphoric, a more streamlined, minimalistic style of songwriting.”

  3. St. Vincent video for “Cruel”

    August 25, 2011 by Steph

St. Vincent is receiving some cruel and unusual punishment in her video for “Cruel.” Snagged from GvB from Huffpo. Watch below…

  4. Unofficial Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Video

    June 23, 2011 by Steph

If I was told that this was DEJJ’s new video for “Simple Girl” I wouldn’t have batted an eye. It’s adorable, sweet, and perfect for the lyrics “She’s a simple girl / She’s governed by simple pleasures.” Actress Jennifer Plotkin makes for the picturesque carefree Cali-girl with a twinkle in her eye. It, in fact, was constructed purely for the joy of video-making by some DEJJ fans. Thanks Dru Korab and Tyler Rumph for the great video.

  5. Kid Infinity’s Video for “The End Is Never Now”

    June 18, 2011 by Kaitlin

Electronic duo Kid Infinity captures their LA underground culture in the new music video for “The End Is Never Now.” The music video is an energetic compilation of footage from their live performances and arts collective, FMLY’s organized bike rides, which combine music, bikes, and friends. Costumes, lasers, and dancing crowds galore, Kid Infinity’s video displays their total involvement and dedication to creating aural and visually dynamic live shows. Their party atmosphere and infectious sound are sure to please in their new video.

  6. The Jezabels – “Hurt Me (acoustic)” Live in the UK

    June 17, 2011 by Steph

The Jezabels played The Great Escape in Brighton, England a few weeks ago and there did a session with Right Guard’s “Off Guard Gigs” for “Hurt Me (acoustic).” They have a small set up with just small set-up of bongos, an acoustic guitar, battery-operated keyboard, and of course, Haley Mary’s soaring vocals.

The band is finally working on their debut LP and I can’t wait!

  7. He Is We “And Run” Acoustic Video

    April 18, 2011 by Steph

I saw He Is We open for The Rocket Summer a while back and at the time, vocalist Rachel Taylor was extremely sick and was struggling to sing. Even then, I was impressed by her pipes. Some of their lyrics border on cheesy, but these guys work hard and make beautiful pop songs and deserve every bit of the accolades their new record is receiving. They’re Paramore meets Beiber with a dash of Ingrid Michaelson.

Their debut full length My Forever was just released by Universal Motown on April 12th.

Catch them on tour with Downtown Fiction (dates below…) (more…)

  8. Hafdis Huld’s Video for Synchronized Swimmers

    January 28, 2011 by Steph

This Icelandic girl is super cute and while her video reminds me a lot of Bright Eye’s “The First Day of My Life,” it’s not a bad reference to make.
