To this day, GirlTalk remains one of the best shows that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I feel that it’s important to make a distinction between “seeing” or “going to” and “experiencing”. He was playing a festival in San Diego on one of the back stages tucked away in a poorly lit alley at the same time as Modest Mouse. This becomes important because that meant that there was an incredible filter going on in the audience. Everyone that was watching Gregg Michael Gillis go nuts on his laptop wanted very much to be there. The back alley was packed and the energy was palpable. There wasn’t a single moment I wanted to raise my camera to take a photo because I was too busy dancing like a crazy person.
