  1. Margaret Cho collaborates with Andrew Bird

    August 12, 2010 by Steph

Funny-lady Margaret Cho is releasing her album Cho Dependent on August 24th. The songs are all writen by an adeptly-chosen indie rock cast including Tegan & Sara, Ben Lee, Andrew Bird, Fiona Apple, Ani DiFranco, Jon Brion, and Andrew Bird. All of the songs are hysterical and skip over any “tongue-in-cheek” and go straight for the money with songs like “Intervention,” “Your Dick,” “My Puss,” “Gimme Your Seed,” and “Captain Cameltoe.”

For “I’m sorry,” she collaborated with Andrew Bird on a country “murder ballad” in the vein of Loretta Lynn. She’s oh so apologetic about killing her lover and the sarcasm is as comical as her dancing around with her zombie-lover Bird in the video. It is somewhat eerie that there’s a real backstory to this song… for the Huffington Post, Cho explained that the story stemmed from a 17-year-old unrequited crush she had, who she was afraid to look up for fear he’d have a perfect life. Come to find out, when she caved and looked him up, his wikipedia page said that in”2007 was convicted of the murder of his wife. He bludgeoned her to death and then stuffed her body in the attic of their house for a month until it had partially mummified.” WEIRD!
