I’ve come to the realization that no matter how hard I try or how diligent I am about keeping up with my inbox, there’s just no way that I can relay all of the amazing tunes that I receive. In an attempt to keep up, I’ll be sharing my “Friday Favs,” a compilation of some of the best things to come my way. Enjoy…
“Luck Now” by Big Scary
I’m going to have to bring you more on this band later, because there is so much love happening here. This Aussie duo just signed to Barsuk and their album Not Art is due out September 17th. Preparing for obsession then.
“Love You in the Dark” by Sombear
This is another that I can’t get enough of. A true pop gem, glittering yet haunting. Like the smooth jams of R Kelly mixed with the irreverence of Wallpaper. Looking forward to debut July 23rd release of the same title on Trans.
“Waste of Time” by MØ
Glitchy, fun, and unexpected. Interesting, a little pretentious, but equally willing to make fun of itself. Pop, but not boring in any sense. This single from the Danish songstress Karen Marie Ørsted will be out in the UK on Chess Club/RCA on July 7th. She’s also been in the studio working on a debut album with Ronni Vindahl so more to come from her soon.
“Katachi” by Shugo Tokumaru
This video is incredible and the tunes are fit to match. LP In Focus? is out now on Polyvinyl. He’ll be returning to the U.S. for a short run in July:

“Old Ash” by Maps & Atlases
For those of you who know me, you know that I love men with beards. So, a music video just about a beard? Why would I NOT love that? Except I wish that such a wonderful beard wasn’t being demolished. But the catchy tunes are enough for me to forgive it.
